SNCO/Officer Training Weekend - 002/2012

Selection Weekend 002/2012_____________________________________________________________________

On a sunny weekend at Penally training camp the third SNCO/Officer selection training weekend took place under the guidance of Sqn Ldr Mike Lovering.  There were only 8 attendee’s on this weekend, but all seemed to enjoy the experience.

The weekend comprised of a selection of elements including drill, discussions, debates, presentations skills, giving a group presentation and motivational exercises.

The course is trying to replicate as close as possible the selection process that will be carried out at RAF Cranwell,  where those selected to try for Officer selection will be put through their paces.

The most comments from the participants was aimed at the benefit that came from the motivational exercises given by Sgt Si Jones RAF, Sgt Jones has been a regular contributor to the courses from the start.

All the attendees were given an evaluation sheet and were asked to give their honest opinions about the course, some of the comments are as follows:

I found the course very beneficial; I learnt new skills that I can carry with me through life, such as presentation techniques, debating topics, and how to present yourself in a formal manner.

Professional well-structured selection process, very informative, challenging but thoroughly enjoyable and a valuable experience

Allows opportunity to network with those from other sqn’s who also wish to aspire within the Air Cadet Organisation.
