The band of 948 Haverfordwest and City of St David’s Squadron Air Training Corps took part in the annual ANZAC memorial service held by the Milford Haven branch of the Royal British Legion on Sunday 29th April 2012.

A service is usually held at the ANZAC memorial in Milford Haven, however, due to the inclement weather a drum head service was held in the Royal British Legion Clubhouse this year.

The service is to commemorate the war dead from Australia and New Zealand who died in two World Wars, including the Australian crew of a Wellington bomber which crashed near Milford Haven.

The ANZACS were represented at the memorial service by Major David Eason of the Australian Army.

Following the drum head service the band played a selection of music from their repertoire including a rousing rendition of Waltzing Matilda.

Squadron Commander Flight Lieutenant Andrew Clark commented “It is always a privilege to be invited by the Royal British Legion to play at such an auspicious occasion. It gives the cadets a stage on which to display the musical skills that they have acquired and to provide a valuable service to the community.”
