Who would have guessed that when Flt Lt B.C Thomas RAFVR (T) became OC of 2117 (Kenfig Hill) Squadron ATC, he would still be there 25 years later. To mark the occasion the staff and cadets presented Flt Lt Thomas with a slate clock.  The presentation was made by Squadron Leader G Lewis RAFVR (T) Deputy OC No.3 Welsh Wing and Wing Staff Officer covering Kenfig Hill, with the staff and cadets on parade. Sqn Ldr Lewis thanked Flt Lt Thomas for the hard work he puts into the running of the Squadron, much more than the two nights a week the cadets see him.

To say Flt Lt Thomas was surprised would be an understatement.  He thanked everyone for their kind words and the clock which he has decided will go into his office at home so he can see it every day.

Flt Lt Thomas said ‘I was taken aback by the kindness and generosity of the staff, cadets and committee of the Squadron. It was quite significant to have a clock with the Squadron crest and dedication commemorating the years that I have spent at Kenfig Hill and I look forward to continuing to serve as OC of Kenfig Hill for many years to come’.
