The recent Kenfig Hill and Pyle Festival Fun Day saw cadets and staff from 2117 (Kenfig Hill) Squadron ATC giving a demonstration of CPR using their Rescue Anne which is a training mannequin.  There was an opportunity for the public to have a go and see what it was like; one member of the public commented that it was not as easy as it seemed to get the chest to rise.

Kenfig Hill and Pyle Ward County Borough Councillor Luke Ellis praised the Kenfig Hill Squadron saying; “Yet again the 2117 Cadets have proven what a truly valuable asset they are to the community. Not only do they continue to serve our community with extraordinary civic pride and immense discipline and respect, but this year they also provided an extremely useful demonstration in resuscitation techniques, which hopefully will never be needed but if required, could save lives.  I highly commend the work of the officers and dedicated voluntary staff who continue to invest their time in our young people locally with consistently remarkable results."

Apart from the CPR demonstration the cadets had a recruitment stall which attracted a lot of attention.  They also helped with the setting up, collecting litter and with the bouncy castle.  I spoke with Community Councillor Andrea Jones and she commented how the cadets were well turned out and their help with the Bouncy Castle was invaluable, they wouldn’t have been able to manage without them.

Flt Lt Woodward, Adjutant 2117 (Kenfig Hill) Squadron was in overall charge of staff and cadets who attended on the day.
