Five cadets from Kenfig Hill ATC took to the skies by attending No.1 AEF MOD St Athan for Air Experience Flying.  The aim of air experience flying is to provide the opportunity for cadets to handle the controls of a powered aircraft under close supervision.

Prior to the cadets taking to the skies they cover the basic procedures and emergencies for flight in the Tutor aircraft by viewing a video.  Even if the cadets have attended flights before they still need to view this video every time.  Cadets must also be familiar with Airmanship which is included as part of their 1st Class syllabus qualification taught on Squadron.

For Cadet Leadbetter this was his first flight, an experience not to be missed.  Many young people join the ATC to experience flying, something they may not have the opportunity to do in their everyday life.

There was good weather for the flight, and the cadets were given a view of their Squadron from above as the flight took them over Kenfig Hill.

Civilian Instructor Chris Lewis was in charge of the cadets on the day.
