2117 (Kenfig Hill) Squadron Visit MOD St.Athan Fire Section

Fire! Fire! Fire!__________________________________________________________________________

Air Cadets from Porthcawl, Pencoed and Kenfig Hill enjoyed a visit to the Fire Section at MOD St. Athan.  They were given a tour of a fire engine and a brief of what all the equipment is used for.  Then it was down to the cadets to see if they could put together a hazchem shower. Their reward was to test the shower, just to confirm they had put it together correctly, and yes they had.

The cadets were then shown how to fix up a hose to a fire hydrant and split into two teams, questions were asked on the fire brief they had at the beginning of the day. If they got the question right they were given pieces to put together the hose and hydrant setup and the winning team were allowed to operate their setup.

The visit although enjoyable, and let’s face it who doesn’t want to look around a fire engine, also had a serious side as it forms a part of the cadet’s syllabus covering Health and Safety.

Sgt Gould from Kenfig Hill Squadron who arranged the visit would like to thank Wing Warrant Officer Durman, Julian Smith, Sgt Adam Burman and CWO K Marke for their assistance in making the day a success.
